Sarah Ledford publishes paper on Urban Stream Water Quality

Sarah Ledford (PhD 2016) just published a paper presenting her findings on how nitrate concentrations change through space and time in an urban stream. Contrary to expectations, nitrate concentrations were elevated in an urban stream reach with a riparian floodplain, complex channel morphology, and mature riparian vegetation. This is in contrast to the near absence of nitrate in summer in a degraded urban reach that is heavily armored, straightened, and degraded. Want to find out why? Check out the paper!
